March 18-20, 2005
Like everywhere else across the southwest this year, Joshua Tree National Park is ablaze with flowers.

.  Regional map.  Joshua Tree is about 150 miles SE of home, in the middle of the big empty between Palm Springs and the Colorado River.

.  Joshua Tree NP has several of these native fan palm oases.  This is Cottonwood Spring in the south end of the park.

.  Lots and lots of flowers. I never saw these ones before.

.  After a 3-mile hike you first see Lost Palms Oasis

.  The plants and rocks at Jumbo Rocks Campground help shelter campers from wind

.  This Cholla forest is in the middle of the park.

.  The southern boundary of the park and the whole valley was awash in all kinds of flowers.
